S.W.’s Verdict
Kubrick built a haunted house out of geometry. The Overlook Hotel is all wrong — the hallways connect to nowhere, the windows face walls, the carpet pattern shifts between shots. Jack Nicholson starts at seven and dials to eleven. Every rewatch reveals something new hidden in the architecture. King hated it. King was wrong.
