S.W.’s Verdict
Russell Crowe plays an actor filming an exorcism movie who may be experiencing real possession, which is a meta concept the film has neither the intelligence nor the nerve to do anything interesting with. Every scare is telegraphed. Every character decision is indefensible. The meta-commentary collapses into exactly the kind of generic exorcism movie it's supposedly commenting on. Crowe deserves better. You deserve better. Everyone involved deserves an exorcism from this project.
