S.W.’s Verdict
A spy movie about a spy novelist whose spy novels are actually real spy operations, directed by a man who made good spy movies once. Matthew Vaughn stacks twist upon twist until the whole thing collapses into noise. Bryce Dallas Howard wanders through set pieces that cost more than most countries' film budgets. Henry Cavill is in it for about fifteen minutes, which the marketing failed to mention. A $200 million film that feels like it was assembled by committee during a fire drill.
