Fernando Meirelles filmed a war zone and made it move like a music video without ever trivializing the violence. The non-linear structure works because every timeline feeds the same inevitability — these kids were born into a system that was always going to chew them up. Rocket's survival feels less like a character arc and more like a statistical anomaly. It's one of the most kinetic films ever made and every frame of that energy costs someone on screen their life.
