S.W.’s Verdict
Disney's 100th anniversary celebration film is a forgettable musical about a girl who wishes upon a star, which is ironic given that the studio built its empire on that exact premise and still couldn't make it work here. The animation style tries to blend 2D watercolor textures with 3D models and achieves neither. The villain is a king who hoards wishes, which sounds like it could be interesting until you realize the film has nothing to say about power, desire, or anything else. The songs evaporate on contact. Happy birthday, Disney.
