S.W.’s Verdict
A documentary that spent five years following two Black teenagers from inner-city Chicago trying to reach the NBA, and ended up making one of the best films about the American class system ever produced. Three hours pass like ninety minutes because real life handed the filmmakers a narrative arc that most screenwriters would sell organs for. The basketball is the hook. The systemic machinery grinding underneath is the point. Nothing here is staged, and that's precisely why it cuts deeper than fiction.
