S.W.’s Verdict
Raimi remembered he's Sam Raimi. Two coworkers crash on a desert island and spend 90 minutes discovering exactly how much they hate each other while trying not to die. McAdams plays corporate resentment like a coiled spring — the best performance of her career, and nobody saw it coming. The tonal shifts from survival horror to pitch-black comedy are whiplash-fast but deliberate. Not every gag lands, but the ones that do hit hard enough to leave marks. This is what happens when a horror veteran makes a genre film without apologizing for it.
