A $115 million adaptation of a video game that nobody who plays the game would recognize. Cate Blanchett collects a paycheck. Kevin Hart plays Kevin Hart in a different costume. The humor lands with the frequency and impact of a coin tossed into the ocean. Every action scene looks like it was lit by someone who hates the audience. The game has style, personality, and anarchic energy. The film has none of these things. This is what happens when a studio buys an IP and forgets to buy the fun.
