S.W.’s Verdict
Del Toro spent decades waiting to make this, and it shows in every frame. Elordi disappears into the creature with a physicality that borders on uncomfortable. Isaac's Frankenstein is vain and brittle in exactly the right proportions. The film is gorgeous and deliberate, occasionally too deliberate — some sequences worship their own beauty at the expense of momentum. But when it locks in, it locks in hard. This is the Frankenstein adaptation that actually earns the tragedy.
