The Russos spent what feels like the GDP of a small nation to make a movie that looks like a theme park ride designed by committee. Millie Bobby Brown wanders through a retro-futuristic world that never decides what it wants to be. The robots are cute. The plot is not. Every emotional beat arrives pre-packaged and vacuum-sealed. Netflix's algorithm probably loved the pitch. The algorithm was wrong.
